Susan Early is a visual artist, printmaker and architect. Her fine-art prints record Irish urban, rural and coastal landscapes. Susan’s practice considers transitions across the physical and natural environment, including built structures in the landscape. Lighthouses and towers around the coast of Ireland and buildings nestled into mountains or hills often feature in her prints. She usually creates etchings, using aquatint on a single copper plate to produce subtle fine-art prints of tone and colour, each hand-printed at Graphic Studio Dublin, but has also worked in linocut, woodblock and mokuhanga.
Susan is an artist member of Graphic Studio Dublin, has curated and managed exhibitions for GSD printmakers and is on the management team of Print Network Ireland. She worked for eight years as Administrator, Education Manager and Company Secretary for GSD, and currently works as Practice Manager for MVK Architects in Dublin. Her work has been exhibited in Ireland, UK, Europe, Canada, USA and Japan and is in many collections, including The OPW and NI Civil Service Collection. She is a member of The Watercolour Society of Ireland, Dublin Painting and Sketching Club, Visual Artists Ireland and Print Network Ireland.
Upcoming exhibitions include a solo show, ‘Beacon’, at The Seamus Ennis Arts Centre, Naul, Co. Dublin in October 2026. Recent exhibitions include RHA Annual Exhibitions, RUA Annual Exhibitions; Royal Society of Marine Artists, London, Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Co. Mayo, Kanreki at The Model, Sligo & Nara, Japan, The Watercolour Society and DPSC annual exhibitions and internationally in Europe, USA and Canada.
